Seeds
Maizetech Ltd. has identified suitable maize hybrids and developed agronomic methods and in-field support practices that helped growers integrate the system of growing maize under film into their farming practice. We supply many varieties of maize seeds; the most commonly supplied maize seeds are detailed below.JUSTINA
This maize seed was the biggest selling maize hybrid in both the UK and Ireland in 2008 (Kleffmann , 2008, DAFRD, 2008). The particular combination of yield, maturity and agronomics means JUSTINA can justifiably claim to be 'The Great All-Rounder'!Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross with flint dent grain
- Very good early vigour
- Uniform impressive tall crop
- Large cob at full maturity with deep large kernels
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The Open- In the open on all but the most marginal sites in Great Britain
- On maize growing sites in the south and south east of Ireland, appropriate site selection required in northern counties
Grown Using The Samco System
On all maize growing sites in the UK & Ireland

PR39W67
This maize seed is an early maturity hybrid with good early vigour and very good staygreen. PR39W67 has shown itself able to outyield ]USTINA and produce high grain yields and starch contents.Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross with flint dent grain
- High forage yields and high starch content
- Average standing power
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The Open- On favourable maize growing sites in Great Britain
- On warm sites in southern Ireland
- PR39W67 is unlikely to suit very exposed sites
Grown Using The Samco System
- For grain production on all but marginal sites in England and favourable sites in Ireland
- For silage production on all but the most marginal sites in Great Britain and Ireland

PR39G12
This maize seed is an impressive, very large stature, later maturing and very high yielding hybrid. PR39G12 is a popular choice of growers who wish to exploit their warm favourable maize fields, by maturing a high yielding crop of high starch content silage.Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross
- Flint dent
- Tall, large stature hybrid
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The Open- Adapted to light to medium soils in Southern areas of England and also warmer sites in the Midlands and East Anglia
- Adapted to the warmest sites in southern Ireland where an early harvest is not required
Grown Using The Samco System
PR39G12 has been grown under film in the south of Ireland and warmer sites in more northerly counties

BENICIA
This maize seed is a late maturing, tall, large stature, flint grained and very high yielding hybrid specifically marketed in the UK and Ireland for cultivation only under film using The Samco System. The popularity of BENICIA for growing under film has developed following a run of several years where growers have achieved significantly higher yields of forage and grain than those normally achievable in the open.Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross
- Flint grain
- Tall, large stature
- No significant agronomic weaknesses
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The OpenBENICIA is not suitable for planting in the open in the UK or Ireland
Grown Using The Samco System
- On a wide range of favourable sites in south and north England
- On good sites in southern and midland counties of Ireland, and also favourable, sheltered sites in more northerly counties
- Not suited for late planting

PR39B29
This maize seed is a very early maturity hybrid suitable for sites where an early harvest is required. PR39B29 has performed well in late sowing situations on favourable sites. PR39B29 has average cold tolerance and is not suitable for early sowing.Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross with flint type grain
- Short stature, very early maturing
- Average early vigour and average cold tolerance
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The Open- Favourable sites where early maturity is required
- Marginal sites, avoiding early sowing dates
- Grown Using The Samco System
- PR39B29 is not normally grown under film

PR39K13
This maize seed is an intermediate maturity, short stature hybrid with good early vigour and very good stay green. PR39K13 has given very high grain yields in PACTS Trials.Hybrid Characteristics
- Single cross with flint grain
- High grain yields
- Very tall, large stature hybrid
Area of Adaptation
Grown In The Open- Well adapted to grain production on favourable sites in the south of England
- Produces a high grain content silage on more favourable sites in England
Grown Using The Samco System
- Produces a very high grain content silage when grown under film and can be grown on many sites throughout Great Britain and Ireland
- Well adapted to grain production on all but marginal sites in Great Britain and Ireland.
